North-East Regional Consultation on Urban Governance

Praja Foundation is conducting Northeast Regional Consultation on Urban Governance for the North Eastern states of India. The consultation aims to provide a platform for stakeholders from the respective states & urban governance experts to discuss issue-based reforms. Praja has undertaken a data-driven study to understand the ground reality of urban governance across 28 states & 5 union territories under Urban Governance Index (UGI) initiative. The UGI 2.0 focuses on four themes, including an empowered mayor, council, and citizens, & fiscal empowerment of city governments. Praja is studying thematic areas such as sustainable development goals, climate change, and urban planning. The study has been completed for the North Eastern states of India. The findings from this study will be presented in the Northeast Regional Consultation, which aims to identify levers and barriers of North Eastern States & identify possible UG reforms while building stakeholder capacity for implementation.
